Freshman Year at UCA Recap

I'm now officially done with my freshman year of college. . . WOHOOOO! It went by incredibly fast, and as I look back I'm truly in awe at how much I accomplished in such little time. Being a student athlete at the University of Central Arkansas has truly been a blessing. I've have met so many beautiful people and seen so many beautiful places in 9 short months. I am so thankful for the opportunity to play soccer at UCA, and I can't wait to see what swaggie things God has planned for me my SOPHOMORE year.

Looking back I did a terrible job of keeping up with this blog. . . Oopppss.
Before school started I was so excited to share my unique college experience with others. . . But then the year started and I got wrapped up in preseason and preparing for school. I totally forgot I had a blog until Thanksgiving break lol.
So since I never posted about my freshman year experience, I decided I'd give y'all a little picture summary of my freshman year at UCA.

So here it goes. . . .

I must start things off by introducing y'all to my freshman year roomie, Sarah. Rooming with her was such a good experience and I am SO thankful for our friendship and year in the dorms. Sarah is a kind, funny, and an extremely driven person. She's a special friend of mine, who always pushes me to be the best version of myself no matter what. I could go on and on about all the shenanigans we got into over the past year... But I'll save that for another post(:
Introducing the 2014-2015 UCA Women's Soccer Team. I'm on the bottom row in the center (left of the keepers in purple)
Bear Nation Celebration. . . Basically banquet for athletes! This is the freshman (now sophomore) class. I am in the top row on the left.

Some of my teammates and I after climbing the BEAUTIFUL Petit Jean mountain
Sarah, my suite mates, and me at our HALLOWEEN soccer practice. Sarah was dressed as batman, I was Cindy Lou Who, Alex was a baseball player, and Mak was batman as well.
After not seeing my sweet sisters for 3 and a half months, I finally got to visit home after a long fall season! Aren't they gorgeous!?
This is my friend Kenzie. We met through UCA Catholic Campus ministry(CCM). It was really hard to get involved with CCM at fist. I wasn't around as much in the fall because of soccer, so it was hard finding cool Catholic friends at. But then I met my sweet friend Kenz, who welcomed me into her friend group and introduced me to some really beautiful spiritual friends. I call her my spirit twin because we have similar personalities and mannerisms. She's a real gem. This is a picture of us after fall retreat.
This is from Christmas Break. My best friends from high school and I got all dressed up and celebrated NYE together!
This is my handsome boyfriend Sam. He goes to school in Texas, so we rock the long distance relationship. We've been dating for a year now. It's been quite an adventure. God has used Sam to teach me a lot about my faith and myself. I'm very thankful for his positive influence in my life, for all he does to make me smile, and for pushing me to be the best version of myself.
Now on to spring semester! This spring was very difficult for me physically and emotionally. Although soccer wasn't in season, I worked my tail off in the weight room! 6:30am practices 3 times a week, 2-a-days 3 times a week, and homework. . . I was exhausted and very homesick. But God blessed me with some great teammates who supported me through it all! (From left to right, Kara, Sarah, me, Avery, and Peyton)
This was the semester of CRAZY weather! We had so many snow days it was unbelievable!
I got to go home a few times during the semester. It was really nice to take a break from school, relax, and see my sweet family and boyfriend.
After all the snow and rain went away campus was bloomin'. UCA's campus is GORGEOUS during the spring time. So many pretty flowers! Avery, Sarah, and I enjoyed them very much (:
Probably one of the greatest moments of my freshman year was watching Sarah get welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Sarah converted from another denomination of Christianity. Sarah has a beautiful heart for God, and radiates His love in everything she does. Yep my best friend is a rock star for Jesus! I'm very blessed to have a spiritual friend such as Sarah(:
Unfortunately I wasn't able to go home for Easter. . . Fortunately my sweet friend Kenzie and her AMAZING family adopted me for the weekend, and let me take part in their Easter Festivities. Her family is so incredibly kind and generous. I'm so lucky to have such a great support system in Arkansas.
This is my WONDERFUL girls group. We met through CCM during the fall and started a little book club. This year we read How To Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul By Jason and Crystalina Evert. These ladies have been too good to me. They not only make me smile, but also hold me accountable and push me to grow in faith and love. (From left to right Angelina, Me, Kenzie, Laurie, and Katie)
Finally, this is my friend Kara. She is also on my soccer team, and my biology buddy for the spring semester. Science is not my favorite subject, but Kara kept me on track and kept me laughing all semester long. She's been a really great friend to me, and always supported me when I was homesick or having a bad day. Her positive energy is really infectious, and helped me see the good in others and negative situations.

I know that was a lot. . . I took so many pictures this year, it was hard to pick a few! Anyways, that was my freshman year of college. Hopefully I'll keep up with my blog next semester. . .
